The new feature, currently in beta, is rolling out to select Premium users in six countries. Here are the details.
About this Song beta now available to select users
Spotify announced today a beta feature called About the Song, which adds swappable cards to the Now Playing View containing information about the track you’re currently listening to.
The future is available in English to Premium subscribers in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia. It summarizes information from third-party sources, including publications such as Variety and TIME.
Here’s Spotify on About the Song:
Music fans know the feeling: A song stops you in your tracks, and you immediately want to know more. What inspired it, and what’s the meaning behind it? We believe that understanding the craft and context behind a song can deepen your connection to the music you love.
That’s why Spotify is introducing About the Song, a new feature currently in beta that brings stories and context directly into your listening experience.
To check whether you already have access to the new feature, open the Now Playing View in the Spotify app, and just scroll down.
Supported tracks will display the About the Song card, which also includes thumbs-up/down feedback buttons to help Spotify optimize the summarization feature.
